X Rite Colormunki Software Download

Posted on by admin

Here's my tale of woe. My ColorMunki Photo worked well with Windows XP, 7 and 8. My new build is a complete fresh install (not an upgrade) of Windows 10 Pro on a new ASUS Z97-A /USB 3.1 motherboard. The computer is running fine, however, I can't get the ColorMunki to work properly. After installing the CM software (downloaded from the ColorMunki website), the 'Activate' button is greyed out and a message that the CM is not connected appears.

(BTW, when I connect the CM to my USB port, I hear the OS ring indicating that a USB device has been connected. I have also tried different USB ports with the CM and they all don't work). I contacted X-Rite and they sent me a link for a download to fix this problem. Once this new software was installed, the activate button appeared and it now says the CM is connected. When the Activate button is pressed, immediately a dialog box appears saying a new version of CM software is available for download. As directed by X-Rite tech support, I deleted a license file and then rebooted and installed the latest version of CM software (version 1.1.1). Again, my CM is not detected.

I have also turned off and on CM services as directed by X-Rite but with no success. I'm going around in circles trying to get this thing to work.

A new software update was released today for ColorMunki Display. This software update includes a new version of X-Rite Device Services and fixes various small issues and adds some important versatility to ColorMunki Display. CLICK here to download ColorMunki Display v1.1.0 software. What’s New in.

I'm beginning to think (as suggested by X-Rite) that it may be a USB port issue (although every other USB device connected to the computer is working fine). I am thinking about getting a powered USB hub and seeing if this solves the issue. Anyone having similar problems installing CM on Windows 10. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions. As a side note, I find it hard to believe that X-Rite still shows CM software from 2009 without any recent updates for newer operating systems. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it, although in my case I think it's broke. Thanks for any help you can give me.

JSB, I don't know if I can help you but this is what I do. I had windows 10 but I went back to Windows 8.1, I like it better. I had no problem with Windows 10 and this is the procedure I used with Windows 10 but I now use with Windows 8.1: With nothing connected I click on the Color Munkie Fix Ver 1.1.1 that opens up to Color Munkie Photo Activation SP and install it. I now plug in my Color Munkie USB cable to PC and click my Color Munkie Icon on my desktop.

I will get the message 'New Updates Detected' --> Click OK. And a Black Screen will appear, just (X) it out. Close the 'Welcome To Color Munkie Photo' dialog box. Sometimes I would get the Dialog Box to Activate and sometimes I don't get that dialog box (I can't figure that one out). Like I said I'm using Windows 8.1 but give it a shot it may work with Windows 10.

I tried something like this but I'll give it another try later tonight with your instructions. Maybe I'll get lucky. Obviously, there is an issue that X-Rite knows about since there is a service patch for Activation.

Why is it that X-Rite can't just update the software. Providing a download with software from 2009.Really X-Rite?

Asus released a new USB driver on Jan. Link to driver downloads. I have zero problems with my long list of hardware and software running on Win 10 including Xrite's I1PRO, and older Pulse spectrometers and all their related software Bob P.

Bob, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have updated USB driver. I am current with all my ASUS updates including the BIOS. Try running the CM from Windows Safe mode, just to see if you get a more consistent detection? Even though like you I built a dedicated Win 10 system, I also have another hard drive in it with Win 7 Ultimate (which also has Virtual Win XP mode installed) that I can boot from just in case something doesn't work correctly so I can use the Win 7, or Win XP, and go on my way. Hindi serials on zee tv. Win 10 isn't perfect and has a long way to go, I'm sure you see all the updates that come out every few days.

My Win 10 system is my experimental system, to evaluate and tweak hardware/apps to make them work correctly. I use another Win 7 system with 195 apps that I use as my main daily system and not too eager to change over to the Win 10 system anytime soon. JSB, I'm new to this forum and live in Belgium. Recently I updated my Windows 7 machine to Windows 10 and nearly all went good. But: my Colormunki Photo did all the measurements on screen (I adjusted the brightness, and I saw the brightness level on screen reacting my modifications. But then at the end, when I would had to save the profile, I got a message saying 'Error encountered while calculating the profile' I had to leave the software (or try again, but that gave me the same result).

I did remove the software version 1.1.1. I even cleaned the registry, searched for remaining X-rite elements in registry and on the C:-drive and did a fresh install: nothing helped. I read that you got a solution. Please can you give me some instructions on how to solve this problem?

What did you did to solve it? What procedure? I don't know if it is possible on this forum to send me a PM. But if so: please do. If I don't find a solution I have to go back to Windows 7. Thanks in advance.

Their technical support is good. For me, after having a tough time getting my ColorMunki to work, I was able to solve my problem with a very simple fix. This may or may not work for you. It seemed that my problems had to do with my firewall. All I had to do was to turn off my firewall when installing the ColorMunki software.

Once I did that, the system was able to communicate with whatever it needed via the internet and it installed without a glitch and worked fine. I don't know if this will help you but it worked for me. My colormunki display acted very wonky with windows 10. I had to disable where it auto adjusts the monitor and it took several tries playing with various settings to get it to complete creating a monitor profile without locking the whole machine up. It auto adjusted the monitor and worked flawlessly on windows 7 on the same machine so it seems like while they claim their software is compatible with windows 10, it really isn't.

My guess is they are writing software for windows 10 as we speak and didn't want to lose sales because they don't have software that works with windows 10 yet.

I am currently trying to calibrate my Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop screen. I have an X-Rite ColorMunki Display and have been using the X-Rite software that comes with it to calibrate. Last night, I decided to give DisplayCAL hoping that the results would be more or less the same. The two software yield very different calibration.

The X-Rite software turns the display much darker and way more orange. DisplayCAL is brighter and less orange. Why the huge difference between the two? Which one is accurate? Did I not set the settings right? The sRGB preset will attempt to correct the white point of your display using the video card gamma table (VCGT). This can be useful, especially if your display is accurate.

It will make the resulting ICC profile more dependent on having the VCGT loaded correctly. But if you set DisplayCAL to manage your calibration, it should take see that remains the case. The only difference between the default and default laptop presets is the laptop one skips the step for helping you change OSD settings, as most laptops don't offer any. The sRGB preset will also use the sRGB response curve as the gamma target instead of a simple gamma 2.2 curve. The difference between the two is pretty subtle though, usually you won't see it unless you flip an image back and forth between the two.

Here's the DisplayCAL main dev answering some questions about the sRGB vs gamma 2.2 presets: EDIT: don't bother changing things in the Intel graphics software, those just change the VCGT some more. DisplayCAL will wipe those and set it up properly. @JtheNinja Thanks man! Super helpful!! So, since I'm using a laptop and I don't really find any OSD settings for my monitor, besides the Intel Graphics software, I should use the 'Laptop (Gamma 2.2)' setting so I can rely on DisplayCAL to make the color and brightness changes automatically.

Am I correct in understanding this? I should just set the Intel Graphics software to default and let DisplayCAL make all the changes? What about a wide gaumet display? The Dell XPS 15 has one. Does that change any of the other calibration settings?

If my ultimately goal is to have accurate display for photography and video editing for web (not print), does that change anything for me? Should I go sRGB instead of Gamma 2.2, even with the subtle differences? It will also give you a white level (brightness) check here, which might be handy. Btw, turn off auto-brightness when calibrating if you haven't already. Anyway, adjust your brightness to either a normal working setting, or something the meter reports as being around 120cd/m2, that's usually a good standardized setting. Whatever you pick, make sure it doesn't change until the calibration/profiling process is done.
